Information we collect
We collect only the information needed to provide Heirlooms:
- Account information: phone number, display name, family relationship, user identifier, and notification preference.
- Optional profile information: a profile photo you choose to add.
- Family content: voice recordings, generated transcripts, prompts, question suggestions, reactions, and comments.
- Service information: device and notification tokens, upload and processing status, and limited technical information needed for authentication, security, reliability, and support.
How we use information
We use this information to authenticate members, keep each family vault private, record and play stories, generate transcripts, deliver requested notifications, support family interactions, prevent abuse, troubleshoot problems, and operate the beta. We do not use family stories to train advertising systems.
Sharing and service providers
Family content is available only to authenticated members of the family vault, according to their role. We use Google Firebase and Google Cloud services for authentication, database storage, file storage, notifications, server processing, and speech-to-text transcription. These providers process information for us to operate the service. We do not sell personal information, show third-party advertising, or share information for cross-app tracking.
Storage and retention
Family data is encrypted in transit and protected by the cloud provider's encryption at rest. Stories and related family content are retained until an authorized person deletes them, deletes their account, leaves the family where applicable, or requests family-vault deletion. Local recording drafts remain on the storyteller's device until sent, replaced, or discarded.
Your choices and deletion
You can update your name, relationship, photo, and notification preference in the app. Storytellers can delete their own stories. Members can leave a family, and every user can permanently delete their account from the in-app account menu. Family organizers may contact us to request deletion or export of a family vault during the beta.
Children
Heirlooms is intended for families and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly create accounts for children under 13 without appropriate parental involvement.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the beta evolves. We will post the current version here and update the effective date when material changes are made.
